My husband, 6-year-old son and I stayed at this beautiful cabin over Labor Day weekend for a quiet, unplugged get-away. The drive was about 3 hours from our house in NoVa, which was just far enough away to feel removed but close enough to comfortably drive. The cabin is GORGEOUS. It’s not only beautifully furnished and appointed but super functional at the same time. The tree slab countertop and wood shelving in the kitchen is both pretty and practical for space use. I told my husband I was so impressed with how many available surfaces there were for groceries, electronics, and miscellaneous kid debris that I wanted to rearrange some of my own furniture at home :) The highlights for me were the mosaic tiling off the kitchen and in the bathroom and the sliding bedroom doors. The bedrooms had a surprising amount of space and the mattresses were genuinely as comfortable as our own. I used the back porch to just relax one afternoon, reading in the sunshine and listening to birds. The surrounding area is serene; my son and I went hiking for sticks and later used the fire pit to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. We also visited some nearby water falls which, although the line to get into the park was long, was a great way to spend the afternoon and it managed to keep our 6-year-old thoroughly engaged (he got to play IN the water). All-in-all, a totally great and totally unexpected treat of a retreat; my husband didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back!!
