Fourth of July retreat

We loved our stay here. The location is just amazing – very private and a large piece of land with access to the river. We spent a lot of time walking down to the river and looking for crawfish. We even tried fly fishing although we didn’t have any luck 🙂 The Savage River Reservoir is right down the road, so we rented kayaks from the nearby convenience store and spent two days out on the water, where we caught perch and smallmouth, and saw a bald eagle flying low over the water. Deep Creek Lake was about 40 minutes away which was also great. Overall, we’ll be back for the location alone! The cabin is small and has no AC so we stayed outside most of the time, and luckily it would cool down enough at night to sleep comfortably. There’s a lot of wildlife here, we saw a doe and her fawn, a bobcat, a black bear, turkeys, and tons of rabbits. We had a very good time disconnecting and relaxing. Thanks for a great place!

So very cool that you got to enjoy our area and our wildlife! It is always a treat for us when our guests get visitors from nature! Certainly there are great outdoor areas to explore; however nature isn’t always so forthright! So, so great! Indeed the lack of AC worries some folks but we let them know that it gets in the 50’s, and even the 40’s during the summer at night. Awesome sleeping weather. Thanks for being our guest and we look forward to hosting you again on your next visit!
