Tastefully furnished, the cabin features three bedrooms, with two queen-size beds, a double bed, and a twin bed; an open living space, with the living room, dining room, and kitchen housed within a single great room; and a fully equipped kitchen, with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, providing comfortable accommodations for up to seven guests. An expansive deck wraps around the open living space, which features wall-size windows, giving access to the home’s charming mountain view from both inside and outside the cabin.
On-site, guests can stroll the grounds on trails around the cabin, sit around the boulder-ringed fire pit, have a ping-pong tournament on the basement table, play the numerous board games provided, watch the DirectTV/Roku-enabled flat-screen television, or just sit and relax. Energetic, adventurous guests may want to hike down to the river through wilderness along steep, undesignated trails to visit the abandoned ghost town of Kendall, for which the cabin is named (approximately 2 miles away with an elevation drop of 460 feet).
Off-site activities include boating at Deep Creek Lake and skiing at the Wisp Resort (both only a 10-minute drive away); hiking the area's numerous mountain trails; fishing the region's many lakes and streams; whitewater rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, golfing, hunting, and much more.

The cabin was beautiful and in a great location. Close to Wisp and restaurants, but still secluded. We really enjoyed putting together the 1,000 piece puzzle!

Love, love, loved it and will definitely be returning! The house was immaculate, the management company was awesome, the cabin was well stocked with extra blankets and all, very relaxing, perfect view, not far from the stores and attractions, the on call guy Mike was awesome, we loved it, and shall return… Thank you for having us.

The house itself was even better than the photos. We had an issue with the fire alarm battery dying so it was beeping and they had someone out with a big ladder to fix it within the hour. Great amenities. We will 100% be back!

Perfect for a ski weekend at Wisp. This house is nicely finished with a wood burning fireplace that was great for six adults to spend time in after a day of skiing. You will need a 4×4 to get up the driveway after snowfall.

We spent the weekend at Kendall Retreat and it far exceeded our expectations! The cabin is absolutely beautiful and the owners thought of everything. The cabin is well stocked, plenty of extra blankets, just about anything you need in the kitchen and even a closet filled with games! We had three adults and three children and more than enough room. We would highly recommend Kendall Retreat to anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway with some beautiful scenery.

A wonderful, romantic location. The house is enough in and of itself to have an amazing getaway— 10 minutes away from Deep Creek Lake is the icing on the cake!! Owners indeed thought of everything you might need on your stay— from household items, to Bluetooth speakers and the most adorable personal touches. We truly loved staying there. I think of all the Airbnbs I have experienced— this one is my favorite!

Thank you so much for your kind words and we are very happy that you had a good experience. While we do have to utilize a 3rd party company to ensure we stay in compliance with the County/State (don’t want to lose our license to rent) we will talk with them about their systems to try to keep the ‘administration’ part as seamless as possible. Thanks for being our guest Cara and we so look forward to hosting you at Kendall Retreat again someday!

Feels remote and tucked away, yet is moments from I68. Very clean, stylish, and comfortable. Great location, great value, 10/10 would go there again. In fact, we’re likely going to make it an annual getaway spot.

We had a wonderful stay at this well-equipped, comfy and lovely cabin. It was the perfect size for our group of 6, we went and explore nature and snow sports nearby.

The perfect place for our weekend getaway! A short drive to Deep Creek and Swallow Falls, horseback riding, and so much more. Thank you for everything! We will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Kendall Retreat! The cabin was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. It is close to many amenities (grocery store, restaurants, recreation) and easily accessed from the highway. I recommend bringing bottled water if you aren’t used to the taste of well water. There were many large ants in the cabin but traps were placed throughout and most of our group wasn’t bothered by them. We would happily return to Kendall Retreat to enjoy another relaxing weekend and explore the many recreational opportunities western Maryland has to offer!
Response:
Thank you and your family for being our guest and we do appreciate the care you took with the cabin! Certainly those pesky ants have been a bit more of a nuisance this year than previous years but we are optimistic that the pest treatment spray application done after your visit should have remedied this. I was at the cabin earlier today getting it ready for this weekend’s guests and noted that the treatment/traps seem to have done their job! We look forward to hosting you again on your next visit to the area! Thanks for being our guest…

Kendall Retreat @ Deep Creek Lake
Public feedback
The Kendall retreat was a great place to stay for a secluded setting. It is located off the main road so there was some road noise when outside, but sitting on the deck overlooking the wooded area was peaceful. It was a lodge type setting with plenty of space for our two families (7 people). We also enjoyed spending the evenings around the fire pit. The location is a short drive to Deep Creek and just down the road from Friendsville where we hiked along the river.
Manager Response
Awesome! So glad you took advantage of the ‘Wild and Scenic Corridor’ of the Yough River – our State did a great job of protecting the pristine nature that this river offers. We thank you for being our guest and look forward to hosting you again someday!
